Lake Morton, in Lakeland Florida, is great location to get a few good shots of swans and other waterfowl. The swans were easy to photograph as they glide effortless across the lake and when they frequently visit the feeding stations positioned at the shoreline around the lake. I also enjoyed photographing included Wood Ducks, Mallards, Great Blue Herons, White Ibis, Northern Shoveler, Graylag Goose Ring Necks, Common Moorhen, American Coots, Anhinga, Muscovy, Ring Necked Ducks, and Ruddy Ducks. I strongly recommend the visiting Lake Morton. If you’re a Detroit Tigers Fan, like me, you can take in a preseason baseball game and photograph birds on the same day.
In December 2013 Jacksonville Florida had only the third citing ever of a Snowy Owl. This particular Snowy Owl visited Little Talbot State Park over several days. It landed on the beach which resembled the arctic tundra of its native environment. I was very fortunate to pass through Jacksonville on my vacation. He was a very high attraction for birders and photographers and even was shown on the evening ABC National Broadcast.
